Dusting my luggage

Saturday 3rd October, Blithfield Reservoir, 9:40 - 17:00.

Cor, I gave Blithfield a right grilling today. Well, apart from missing out on a Whinchat (so not that well-grilled), around the deep end were a Wheatear and a flock of about 100 Linnets. A juvenile Arctic Tern off the causeway. In Tad Bay were 17 Dunlin, 5 Ringed Plover, 5 Snipe, 2 Goosander, 6 Pintail. Blithe Bay had the two juvenile Pectoral Sandpipers, 5 more Snipe and Redshank. Finally, 3 House Martins over the education centre.

Sunday 5th October, Weaver Hills, 8:00 - 10:00.

Well, more migrating stuff on the Weavers this morning. My totals came out as 17 Golden Plover (in two groups, one group of 11 birds briefly landed), 3 Snipe, 40 Meadow Pipits, 20 Skylarks, 5 Goldfinch, 2 Linnet, 2 Raven.

Uttoxeter Quarry was rather quiet, with 5 Goosander and a Green Sandpiper. The main point of interest being a tit flock that contained Willow Tit, Treecreeper and Chiffchaff.

That's about it again on the blogging front for a couple of weeks or so. A week's birding in The Algarve next week, woohoo! The dust has been wiped off my luggage already, just got to get round to putting some stuff in it.
